Since you asked, we would love to tell you a little about us. To know anything about us, you need to know a little back history first! We will try to keep it (sort of) short.
We are sisters who grew up on a little farm, down a little dirt road, called Redbud Drive. We are very close in age (just a year and a half a part), and grew up spending way too much time together. We were also homeschooled, so to say we were close is an understatement.
That little farm, on that little dirt road, didn’t come attached to a lot of money. As in, we were basically broke, our whole lives. What we lacked in money, though, we made up for in everything else! Our parents did all they could to teach us the value of a hard earned dollar, the importance of honesty and follow-through, and the absolute necessity of following Jesus through every step of our lives.
That little farm held more adventures than we could ever tell you. From the many adventures on the back of a horse, the hundreds of times we looked under boards and barn tin for any living creature we could find (see: snakes), the attempts to raise every animal under the sun from baby mice or frog eggs to flying squirrels and opossums, the hard work of raking two acres of lawn by hand, to the hours of sledding down the giant hill behind our house in the snow. Life was never boring and life was never sad. Life was an adventure worth living.
We were always busy! Our parents taught us from a very young age how to work, and how to work hard. We were also taught to problem solve whatever we needed to. We were not taught to make something out of nothing, but rather, were taught how to make something amazing out of whatever we had on hand! If we didn’t know how to do something, we didn’t give up, but were taught to try until we figured it out hence, our tagline: “Sisters who are overcommitted, underqualified, and winging it!”
That little farm, on that little dirt road, holds the best memories and the biggest life lessons that, we are sure, couldn’t have been taught to us anywhere else. Who we were raised to be on that little farm has made us into who we are today, and now we want to pass what we’ve learned to “wing-it” through, on to you! We can’t promise that what we post or write will be perfect, but we can promise that it will always be from our heart and that it will have a little piece of our history from Down Redbud Drive.
