This paper plate firefighter craft is such a cute and easy community helpers activity for kids. It is perfect for talking about firefighters, fire safety, and the important people who help keep our communities safe every day.

Kids always seem to love community helper crafts because they connect to real people they see around them. Firefighters are especially exciting for little ones, with the big trucks, bright uniforms, helmets, and the brave work they do.
This simple firefighter craft gives kids a fun way to learn about them while also working on cutting, painting, gluing, and following step-by-step directions.
This craft uses a paper plate as the firefighter’s face, with construction paper details for the hair, hat, eyes, cheeks, nose, and firefighter badge. The finished craft comes out bright, cheerful, and perfect for a community helpers theme, preschool unit, classroom display, or rainy day craft at home.
Supplies You’ll Need for your Fire Fighter Craft
For this firefighter craft, you will need a paper plate, construction papers, scissors, glue, brown and white paint, and a paint brush.
You can also use a marker at the end to draw on the smile and any extra details you want to add.

How to Make a Paper Plate Firefighter Craft
Start by painting the paper plate peach, or whichever skin tone you prefer. You can mix brown and white paint together to get the skin tone you want, then cover the plate and let it dry completely before moving on.

Leave the paint to dry and while you’re doing this, you can prepare the template pieces.
Next, cut out the printable templates and trace each piece onto the correct color of construction paper, then cut those pieces out again. This makes it easier for kids to assemble the craft neatly and helps everything fit together nicely.

Now begin assembling the templates one by one. Start by attaching the hair at the top of the paper plate face. Then glue the firefighter’s hat at the top of the hair so it sits nicely across the head.

After that, attach the eyes, cheek blush, and nose to the face.

Once all the paper pieces are in place, use a marker to draw a simple smile. And that’s it – your paper plate firefighter craft is ready!
