Halloween food is so much fun to make for kids and adults alike! It’s fun to make creepy and spooky recipes that kids will love! I don’t have a ton of time (because parents already have enough on their plates), so I take as many shortcuts as possible!
These cute Monster Rice Krispies are super easy to make and turn out so fun and colorful! Let kids help make them (mine loved helping with the eyes) or make them without them!
I had a blast making these cute Halloween treats in bright colors (because that’s just how I roll), but you could also make them in more traditional Halloween colors if you wanted as well!
How do you make these Monster Rice Krispie Treats?
Step 1: Gather your supplies.

You will need:
- Rice Krispie Treats (I used store bought to save me time, but you can make your own following this rice krispy treat recipe.)
- Chocolate Melting Wafers (choose your colors)
- Varying Shapes of Eye Candy (found mine at Michael’s)
- Microwave Safe Bowls
- Silicone Spatula
- Wax Paper
Step 2: Melt your chocolate melting candies.

You will need to melt your chocolate melting candies to a smooth consistency for the best results.
To do this you need to place your wafers in a microwave safe bowl, and cook for one minute. Immediately remove and stir. Then microwave for 30 seconds and stir again until smooth.
You shouldn’t need to cook it for any longer than that, so be careful not to cook it for too long so the chocolate doesn’t seize up.
Pro Tip: I don’t recommend doing multiple colors at once. The chocolate will start to cool and will give unfavorable results. Do one color at a time for the best outcome.
Step 3: Unwrap or cut your rice krispies into small rectangles.

Line your workspace with wax paper.
As I said earlier, I used pre-made rice krispie treats because I didn’t have time to make mine from scratch.
However, if you made yours from scratch, make sure they’re cooled completely and cut into small rectangles.
Step 4: Dip them into the melting chocolates.

Dip the top half of your Monster Rice Krispie Treats into the melting chocolate. Coat the front, back, top, and sides.
Don’t get the chocolate too thick, or it just won’t taste good.
A single bag of those melting chocolates would probably make 20-24 treats.
Step 5: Place on the eyes.

While the chocolate is still warm and melty, place the eyeball candies on the treats. Use as many or as few as you want!
Press each eye into the chocolate just a bit to make sure it stays stuck when the chocolate dries.
Step 6: Let them cool.

Let your Monster Rice Krispie Treats creations cool on the wax paper for 30-60 minutes, or until chocolate has hardened.
Store your treats in a cool, dry place until you’re ready to serve them!
