If you’ve ever come home from the beach with pockets full of shells and interesting pieces of driftwood, this is the perfect project for you. A DIY beach wreath is a lovely way to display your seaside treasures and bring a little bit of the coast into your home. Whether you hang it on your front door, above a mantel, or on an indoor wall, it’s a simple craft that celebrates everything we love about summer by the sea.
One of the best things about this beach wreath DIY is that no two wreaths will ever look the same. The driftwood, sea glass, and shells you collect tell the story of your own beach adventures, making this a meaningful keepsake as well as a beautiful decoration.

Isn’t there something really lovely about a wreath? I’ve noticed wreaths appearing on front doors across the year, not just at Christmas! A circle is symbolic of everlasting life and unity: there is no start or end. Interestingly, the Romans hung wreaths upon their doors to show victory and today we hang them to brighten up our entrances and also to offer a warm welcome. Placing a beach wreath on your door to signal the start of the summer season is a great idea!
Whether your style is coastal, nautical, or simply inspired by nature, this beach themed wreath makes a gorgeous seasonal decoration. It also makes a thoughtful handmade gift for anyone who loves spending time by the ocean.
Materials You’ll Need for your DIY Beach Wreath Craft
One of the nicest things about making a coastal wreath is gathering the materials. A beach walk becomes a treasure hunt as you look for interesting driftwood, smooth sea glass, and beautiful seashells to include in your design.
If you can’t get to the beach, you can always combine shop-bought shells with natural items you already have at home. Just make sure any foraged pieces are clean and completely dry before you start assembling your wreath.
How to Make a Beach Wreath
This beach craft comes together surprisingly quickly once you’ve collected your materials. Start by building up the driftwood base, then add your decorative seashells and sea glass before finishing with a rustic bow for the perfect coastal touch.

Materials
- Cardboard or wooden circle wreath base
- different-sized driftwood
- reeds
- sea glass
- shop-bought or foraged shells
- twine
- glue gun
Instructions
- Collect lots of driftwood and allow it to dry. A variety of sizes is good, but the pieces shouldn’t be too much longer than the base. Collect sea glass and choose your shells. Remember to wash and dry foraged items.

- Once everything is dry, start by gluing your driftwood pieces across the base, so the end of the wood is sticking inwards and outwards from the wreath. Repeat until you can no longer see the wreath base

- Place the sea glass and shells on top of the driftwood, Once happy, start gluing these to the driftwood. Finally, think about completing the wreath with a bow. You could use twine, rope found on the beach or a thicker material like hessian.
