The Story of Noah’s Ark
The Bible story of Noah, found in Genesis 6–9, tells of a good man who listened to God and followed God’s instructions to build an ark. Noah’s family and the animals sheltered inside while a great flood covered the earth.
Rain fell for forty days and forty nights, but Noah and everyone aboard stayed in the ark much longer while the waters gradually went down. Later, Noah sent out a dove, which returned with a freshly picked olive leaf. That little leaf was a sign that the waters were receding.
Eventually, Noah, his family, and the animals were able to leave the ark and step onto dry land. God placed a rainbow in the clouds as a sign of His promise never again to destroy all life with a flood.

Supplies for Your Noah’s Ark Craft
You’ll only need a handful of supplies for this Bible story craft. White cardstock helps the pieces hold their shape as children turn the wheel, making it a good choice for something they’ll want to use again when retelling the story.
Gather the Noah’s Ark printable template, white cardstock, markers, scissors, and a brass fastener, also called a paper brad or split pin. The fastener joins the two pieces while allowing the background to spin.
Younger children will need a little help cutting around the ark and assembling the spinner. An adult should make the center holes and help secure the fastener.
How to Make the Noah’s Ark Spinner Craft
Color, cut, and assemble your own Noah’s ark with a wheel that changes from rain to a rainbow! Have children finish coloring both pieces before cutting them out so the pictures are easier to hold steady.
Follow these steps from the printable:
- Print out the Noah’s Ark template on white cardstock.
- Color the printable template.
- Carefully cut out the pictures.
- Place the top wheel, the Noah’s Ark piece, on top of the bottom wheel with the rainbow and rainy scenes.
- Poke the brass fastener through both parts in the center where the dot is.
- Spread the two tongs on the back of the fastener to secure.
Keep the bottom wheel as one complete circle when cutting it out. The line between the rainbow and rainy halves is not a cutting line.
The bottom wheel has a marked center dot. Line the ark up in front of it, then have an adult help make the matching hole through the ark piece. Secure the fastener loosely enough for the background wheel to turn.
Once everything is attached, let children practice moving the wheel from rain to rainbow. They can use their own hands to change the picture as they tell you what happened in the story. This makes the finished craft a wonderful way to keep the conversation going after the coloring is done.
Where to Use This Noah’s Ark Bible Craft
