Make your tablescape pretty with this DIY Spring Floral Centerpiece! It’s perfect for warm weather and would even be great for Easter too!

I saw something similar to this DIY Spring Floral Centerpiece on Etsy last year and really wanted it. It was pricy, so I left it for someone else to buy and thought I’d try my hand at recreating it myself.
I’m absolutely in love with how it turned out and it’s the perfect little grassy centerpiece for my table! Customize the floral to match your style and it can be on your table too!
This is NOT a difficult DIY project and can be totally customized based on what you find to use!
How do you make this DIY Spring Floral Centerpiece?
Step 1: Gather your supplies.

You will need:
- Basket (I used a wooden white basket I found for a few dollars at Hobby Lobby)
- Fake Grass (found in the Easter decor section at Hobby Lobby)
- Dry Floral Foam
- Artificial Flowers of Choice (I used a mix of colors)
- Spanish Moss
- Scissors
Step 2: Insert the floral foam into your basket.

The basket I found was the perfect look for what I was going for. It was in by the storage bins with some other ones like it that were larger and smaller.
I picked the size that worked for what I was trying to accomplish. There’s a similar on one Amazon here.
The floral foam block I got wedged perfectly into the basket without needing to be cut or glued. However, if yours is slightly smaller and doesn’t fit tightly, then glue it down with hot glue.
If it’s too big, trim it down just small enough to wedge inside your basket snugly.
Step 3: Trim the grass mat.

The fake grass mat I used was intended to be a placemat. It was only about $3.00 at Hobby Lobby and was the perfect size for this project.
I placed it on top of the basket and foam and pressed down.
Then I used scissors to trim around the edges just enough to get it to wedge into the basket.
I made sure mine fit very well to keep it from budging without adhesive.
IF you find yourself having removed too much grass, you can always attach to the basket and foam using floral picks.
Step 4: Fill the edges with Spanish moss.

You don’t want to see green foam through the slats, or at least I didn’t, so I pressed in small handfuls of Spanish moss to hide it.
When you’re finished with the top and sides, it will look something like this.
Step 5: Fill in the slats with Spanish moss.

Because I chose a basket with picket-like slats, I needed to fill those with Spanish moss as well.
Pressing from the top didn’t work, so I just pressed a bit of moss in each slat to get full-coverage. This only took about five minutes.
Step 6: Add the flowers to your Spring centerpiece.

Once you are finished attaching your foam, inserting your moss, and attaching your grass, you’re ready to add the flowers!
I used a variety of flowers in different sizes and shapes and colors. I used pinks, yellows, purples, whites, and oranges for my look.
Cut the flowers to varying lengths and spread them out in your basket. To attach your flowers, simply press them into the floral foam.
Some variation tips for your DIY Spring Floral Centerpiece:
- Same type. Use all of one type of flower.
- Same color. Use all of one color of flower. Different flowers, but the same color.
- Cost. Cut down on cost by using flowers from the dollar store!
Pro Tip: If you don’t like where the flowers are placed, just move them! Don’t feel like they need to stay there, or that you need to use all the floral you have. Be flexible.

I’m absolutely in love with how mine turned out! It’s everything I had pictured in my head!

I paired mine with a pretty placemat and some fun wooden beads and it’s the perfect table centerpiece for Spring and Easter!
