I’m in love with these doily ornaments! They only take a few minutes to make, and use thrift store doilies. They’re a great Christmas craft you’ll be proud to use.

Doilies are beautiful! The work that goes into them is so time-consuming and the details that are in some of them are stunning! I don’t have the patience to make them, but you can always find them at thrift stores, yard sales, and antique stores for super cheap.
I found some really cute Doily Ornaments at Hobby Lobby this year that matched my tree theme. It had a hefty price tag for as easy as it would have been to recreate, and my friend said, “Why don’t you just make one?” So I did.
She was right! It was so, so easy to make! I ordered a pack of the right size embroidery hoop, got some cheap discarded doilies and had several of these made in just a few minutes!
How to Make DIY Doily Ornaments
Step 1: Gather your supplies.
You will need:
4″ Embroidery Hoops (I bought this pack on Amazon)
Doilies (if you don’t want to bother searching thrift stores, you can buy this 6 pack here)
Scissors
Twine or Thin Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun
Step 2: Place the doily in the embroidery hoop.
Making these is seriously the easiest thing in the world. It’s as simple as loosening the screw on the embroidery hoop, centering the doily over the circle and pressing the outer ring back on, tightening the screw again, and trimming off the excess doily from the back of the Doily Ornaments.
Step 3: Add a hook and a bow.
I added a thin piece of twine or ribbon to make a hook for my Doily Ornaments. I just tied it onto the screw at the top of the ornament.
Optionally, you can also tie a small bow and glue it to the front of the ornament as well.

That’s it! That’s all there is to these Doily Ornaments! These would be beautiful in different colors too. I left the rings of my embroidery hoops the natural wood, but you could always paint them for a different look too.
