Sloppy Joes
Dinners from childhood have very fond memories attached to them. A favorite in our house was ALWAYS Sloppy Joes. Also Salisbury steak from Aldi, but you can go buy that in their frozen department. Dinners don’t have to be complicated to be delicious! This recipe for easy Sloppy Joes is so simple but is the best recipe out there.

Now, to clarify, our mama cooked from scratch often. She didn’t subject us to frozen dinners that I can remember, except for those delicious Salisbury steak dinners from Aldi. BUT, pre-made food wasn’t her only go-to for a quick meal that none of us would complain about.

Ingredients
While you could just grab a can of sloppy joe mix from the store, this recipe uses ingredients you have on hand to create the perfect homemade sauce!
- Meat – Ground beef is traditional, but you could also use ground pork, chicken, or turkey instead if you prefer.
- Ketchup – I like to use the Organic Heitz ketchup, but use what you have on hand!
- Green Peppers and Onions – These are optional, but if you do have them, they will great a lovely depth of flavor and texture to the dish. Plus it’s a great way to sneak in some veggies 😉
- Worcestershire Sauce and Yellow Mustard – Again, these are optional, however, these two ingredients will help elevate this dish to the next level!
- Hamburger Buns – We eat these often on buns, but you can also serve the meat mixture over fries or tots with cheese sprinkled on top to mix it up. It’s good however you serve it!
