If you enjoy making your own homemade cleaners, this simple rose, lavender, and lemon surface spray is a lovely one to try. It uses natural ingredients and takes just a few minutes to prepare before you leave it to infuse. The result is a gentle but effective homemade cleaning spray with a soft floral citrus scent that works well on everyday surfaces around the home.
One of the things I love about making homemade kitchen cleaners is that you know exactly what goes into them. Instead of relying on store-bought cleaners filled with harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances, you can create your own cleaning solution using ingredients you can recognize. It’s a great way to reduce plastic use, reuse glass bottles, and keep your cleaning routine simple.

This DIY cleaner uses distilled vinegar, which contains acetic acid. That natural acidic ingredient helps break down grease and residue on surfaces like kitchen countertops, stainless steel, and the kitchen sink. When it infuses with dried lavender, rose petals, and lemon rinds, the smell of vinegar becomes much softer and more pleasant, leaving behind a light citrus scent.
We like making all kinds of DIY projects at home, and homemade cleaning products are one of the easiest ways to get started. They save money in the long run and let you avoid the toxic fumes that can sometimes come from commercial cleaners.

Supplies for your DIY Kitchen Cleaner
You will need the following items to make this purpose surface cleaner:
- ¼ cup dried lavender
- ¼ cup dried rose petals
- 1 lemon (use the rind)
- 4 cups distilled vinegar (white vinegar works perfectly)
- Measuring cup
- Mason jar with lid
- Reusable glass spray bottle or empty spray bottle

I used dried rose petals and dried lavender that I purchased from Amazon, but you may also find them at a local herb shop or grocery store depending on where you live.

I prefer using a reusable glass spray bottle with a spray nozzle rather than a plastic bottle because it lasts a long time and helps cut down on plastic use.
Why Make Your Own Natural Cleaners?
Making your own natural cleaners is a small change that can go a long way in everyday life. Many commercial cleaners rely on strong fragrances and synthetic ingredients, but simple natural cleaning recipes can work just as well for many household tasks.
When you make your own DIY cleaner, you control the ingredients and can avoid unnecessary additives. Natural ingredients like white vinegar and lemon are known for their cleaning power, helping break down grease and residue while leaving surfaces fresh.
Another benefit is cost. Vinegar from the grocery store is inexpensive and goes a long way when used in homemade cleaning spray recipes. Once you have a few reusable glass bottles, you can make fresh batches whenever you need them.

How to Make the Rose, Lavender, and Lemon Cleaner
This cleaner is incredibly easy to prepare. Most of the time involved is simply waiting while the mixture infuses.
DIY Surface Cleaner
This simple DIY kitchen cleaner is made with rose petals, lavender, lemon, and vinegar to create a fresh-smelling natural cleaning spray. It’s an easy homemade cleaner that infuses over time and works well for everyday surfaces around the home.
Materials
- ¼ cup dried lavender
- ¼ cup dried rose petals
- 1 lemon (rind only)
- 4 cups distilled vinegar (white vinegar)
- Mason jar with lid
- Measuring cup
- Reusable glass spray bottle
Instructions
- Add ¼ cup of dried lavender to a large mason jar.

- Add ¼ cup of dried rose petals to the jar.

- Cut the rind off a fresh lemon
and add the lemon rinds to the jar.
- Fill the remainder of the mason jar with distilled vinegar.
For my jar this was about 4 cups.
- Place the lid on the jar and store it in a dark place for 10 to 14 days. This allows the mixture to rest and the scents to infuse into the vinegar.

- After the infusion period, strain the liquid and pour mixture into a reusable glass spray bottle or empty spray bottle.

Notes
Let the mixture infuse for 10 - 14 days in a dark place before using.
Strain before pouring into the spray bottle to remove the flowers and lemon rinds.
You can reuse the same flowers and lemon rinds once more by adding more vinegar and letting it infuse again for another 10 - 14 days.
Avoid using on natural stone surfaces like granite or marble because vinegar is acidic.
Shelf life is several months when stored in a sealed spray bottle.
Once you pour the liquid out of the mason jar, you can add more vinegar to the same dried flowers and lemon rinds to make a second batch.
Let it sit again for another 10 to 14 days. I usually repeat this process once before discarding the dried ingredients and starting fresh.

How to Use This Homemade Cleaning Spray
This homemade household cleaner works well as an everyday purpose spray around the house. Simply spray a small amount onto the surface and wipe with a clean cloth or soft cloth.
It works nicely on kitchen countertops, the kitchen table, stainless steel appliances, and the kitchen sink. You can also use it in the bathroom on bathroom sinks and other hard surfaces.
Because this cleaner uses vinegar as the base, it’s best to avoid using it on natural stone surfaces like granite countertops or other stone surfaces, since acidic ingredients can damage those materials over time. For those surfaces, natural stone cleaners are usually a better choice.

Tips for Best Results
Letting the mixture rest for the full 10 to 14 days really helps develop the scent. The lavender and rose petals balance out the smell of vinegar while the lemon rinds add a fresh citrus scent.
Using a reusable glass spray bottle instead of a plastic bottle helps preserve the cleaner and reduces waste. A good spray nozzle also makes it easier to apply just the right amount of cleaner to surfaces.
If you enjoy experimenting with cleaner recipes, you can also try adding a few drops of lemon essential oil or drops of tea tree oil for extra fragrance and cleaning power, though this recipe works beautifully as it is.
Shelf Life and Storage
Because vinegar is naturally antimicrobial, this homemade cleaning spray has a good shelf life when stored properly. Keep the bottle sealed and stored in a cool spot, and it should last for several months without issues like bacterial growth.
If the scent fades over time, simply make a fresh batch using the same simple method.
Making your own cleaners is such a satisfying habit to add to your routine. This rose, lavender, and lemon DIY cleaner is simple, affordable, and smells wonderful while you clean. It’s a small step toward reducing reliance on commercial cleaners while still keeping your home fresh and tidy.
If you enjoy natural cleaning recipes, this is a great one to add to your collection of homemade kitchen cleaners. Once you start making your own cleaning sprays, you may find yourself reaching for them more often than store-bought options.
