This simple bald eagle craft is perfect for kids of all ages and works really well for a patriotic unit study, classroom lesson plans, or a fun activity at home. Little hands will love putting together the template pieces, adding the feather details, and turning the finished craft into an eagle paper bag puppet for pretend play afterward.
One of the reasons the bald eagle is such an important national symbol is because it represents freedom and strength in the United States. The bald eagle became the national bird of the USA in 1782, and these majestic birds can actually fly as high as 10,000 feet in the air. Curious kiddos are usually fascinated to learn that bald eagles build some of the largest nests of any bird in North America.

Materials Needed for your Bald Eagle Craft
This easy craft uses simple supplies you may already have at home, which makes it a perfect way to put together a quick afternoon project.
You will need:

- Paper bag
- Construction papers
- Scissor
- Glue
- Marker
We used brown construction paper for the wings and body pieces, along with white paper for the eagle’s head and yellow paper for the beak pattern and feet. If you want to add extra personality, you could also use googly eyes, tissue paper, brown paint, or even extra feather pieces for decoration.
The best part is that the paper bag turns into a puppet once the craft is finished. Kids can use their own eagle for imaginative play, storytelling, or patriotic puppet shows. That makes this not just a fun craft, but also a great keepsake afterward.
